Pretzel Bites!!

Is there anything better then homemade warm and salty pretzel bites right out of the oven!?! This is one of my favorite appetizers to enjoy while watching a game, for happy hour with a few cocktails, or for a starter to enjoy during the holidays! I always make a big batch because they disappear quickly!! I love to dunk them in mustard, but you can also serve them with your favorite cheesy dipping sauce.

Ingredients:

-1 cup of warm water

-2 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast

-1 1/2 tablespoon dark brown sugar

-1 1/2 tablespoon salted butter (melted)

-2 cups and 1 tablespoon all purpose flour

-1/2 cup baking soda

-Sicilian or course sea salt Click HERE for my favorite!!!

-Mustard or your favorite cheesy dipping sauce

Next Step:

-Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Stir and let it sit for 10 minutes.

-Then stir in the melted butter.

-Pour the mixture into the bowl of your stand mixer. Then add in the flour. Mix on low until it starts to come together and then increase the speed to medium for 3 minutes.

-Sprinkle a little flour on top of the dough and on a large cutting board. Remove the dough from the stand mixer and place on the cutting board. Gently shape into a ball.

-Add the dough ball to a new (large) bowl and cover for 2 hours. (I like to add a drop of olive oil in the bowl and spread out with paper towel before I place the dough in)

-Preheat the oven to 400 F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

-Add a large pot of water on the stovetop to boil. Once boiling gently pour in the baking soda. (Go slow or it will rise too fast)

-Sprinkle flour onto your cutting board and place the dough on top. Form the dough in to a log shape and slice off a long 1 inch thick piece of dough. Form the dough into a long rope and slice bite size pieces.

-Place the dough into the boiling water for 12 seconds. Take out and place the dough onto the parchment paper. Sprinkle with course sea salt. Repeat this step until your baking sheet is full.

-Bake the pretzel bites for 15 minutes.

-Take out and serve immediately!

-ENJOY!!
