Homemade Hummus!

Updated: May 1, 2021

Homemade hummus!! So easy, you must give it a try. If you have a can of chickpeas/garbanzo beans in your pantry, definitely make this! Hummus is the perfect addition to your appetizer spread and can be paired with any vegetable, cracker, or pita bread. Chickpeas are packed with plant based protein, they are high in fiber, and contain many heart healthy ingredients.

Prep: 10 minutes

-1 can of organic chickpeas

-1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice

-1/4 cup tahini- always make sure to stir your tahini before pouring

-1 clove of garlic

-1 teaspoon of ground cumin

-2 tablespoons of olive oil

-2-3 tablespoons of water

-pinch of salt and pepper

-pinch of paprika

Next Step:

-Drain and rinse your chickpeas. Then gently take the skin off.

-Pour your lemon juice and tahini into a blender and mix.

-Add your garlic and mix.

-Add your chick peas, cumin, salt, and pepper, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of water. Blend for 2 minutes.

-Check the texture, if it is too thick you can add the extra tablespoon of water.

-Add to your serving dish and sprinkle with a little olive oil and paprika. If you want it spicy you can drizzle on chili oil instead of olive oil.

-Serve with whole wheat pita bread and carrots.

-ENJOY!!
