Your Thanksgiving table would not be complete without homemade cranberry sauce! This healthy version is so delicious I often have to double or triple my recipe. Did you know that most cranberry sauce has up to 1 cup of sugar added in?!? This delicious recipe is made with 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup and only 1 tablespoon of dark brown sugar. My kids always go back for seconds and as a bonus it can be made the day before and only takes 10 minutes to make!
I hope you love it as much as I do!
Ingredients:
-12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries (I prefer to use fresh)
-1/2 cup orange juice (I use slightly less then 1/2 cup)
-1/4 cup pure maple syrup
-1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-Pinch of ground cinnamon
-1 Granny Smith apple (peeled and chopped)
Next Step:
-Add the cranberries, orange juice, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon to a pot.
-Stir and place stovetop on medium heat and then turn down to simmer.
-Simmer for 5 minutes and then using a potato masher, mash down any cranberries that haven't popped. Simmer for another couple of minutes and then take off the heat. It will start to thicken as it cools.
-Once cooled add in the chopped apples. Stir to combine.
-Refrigerate to cool completely.
-Serve and ENJOY!!
